Medical - Dental Prices PDF Print E-mail

First and foremost, the most important factor in medical travel is the quality of medical care.  It is never worth it to go anywhere if the care received is inferior.  At Patient Vacation, we believe that quality is the only thing that matters when we advise our clients.  The fact that you, our client, can save enormous amounts of money is secondary (but in many cases essential).

Here are a few examples of the tremendous price savings that you may enjoy from typical Thai hospitals and dental clinics. These are standard prices and do not reflect any special discounting or promotional reductions.  Please keep in mind that almost all follow-up visits are included in these prices unlike in the U.S.

The Thai prices found here are from the finest hospitals and clinics in Bangkok. As many of you know, obtaining estimates from doctors and medical facilities in the U.S. are practically impossible. Many U.S. prices are taken from recent newspaper articles in the NY Times, Miami Herald, and various internet sites. The Thai estimates are easy to procure and reflect quotes as of September 2008.

  • 64 Slice CT Scan : The new 64 Slice CT Scan takes 64 slice images of human body while rotating four times per second. The results are accurate three dimensional images of the body. It can be timed to collect images of beating heart in-between pulses. A complete scan can take as little as five minutes from the time you walk in the door, meaning less time and discomfort for patients, faster results for doctors, and the ability to avoid more invasive tests if necessary.
  • 64 Slice CT can possibly replace the need for an angiogram or cardiac catheterization in some patients. Angiogram is an invasive procedure that requires the insertion of a thin tube from the groin area to the heart's arteries which carries dye. This dye is used to produce contrast X-rays. The procedure takes 30 minutes to 45 minutes to perform and about an hour for recovery. They are uncomfortable and expensive for the patient. In addition, angiograms only show a portion of the heart, not the whole heart. In the future the 64 CT Scan will be able to provide more detailed results faster, better, without the need of an invasive procedure. Price $600
